11/03/2026. Cheltenham LIVE: Il Etait Temps lands Champion Chase for Willie Mullins as jumping mistakes cost Majborough

Colin Keane strikes at Cheltenham!

Multiple Champion Flat jockey Colin Keane has landed the Champion Bumper on the Noel Meade-trained The Mourne Rambler. Great result.

Sneezing with your eyes open, catching a fish in the desert, licking your own elbow: these are all things that in theory feel easier, to me (Jonathan) anyway, than finding the winner of the Champion Bumper.

The best place to start is with Willie Mullins and it is worth noting Patrick Mullins has chosen to ride Love Sign D’Aunou.

Nothing says Cheltenham like a barrage of emails from bookmakers highlighting whether they are winning or losing the battle with punters.

Ladbrokes have edged into the lead for the week, and the firm’s Nicola McGeady said: “Cheltenham is always a game of swings and roundabouts, and today the results fell firmly in our favour. However, we’re only at the halfway point. Punters have plenty of time to strike back, and tomorrow’s card looks particularly dangerous for bookies.”

Coral’s David Stevens added: “Majborough continued the poor run of odds-on favourites in the Champion Chase, while Final Orders beating Favori De Champdou in the Cross Country was another painful reverse for many punters. Jingko Blue’s win was a rare result that didn’t go our way, but all in all we’ve taken the lead at half-time.”

Paul Nicholls and Max McNeill blast ‘ludicrous’ Turners start

Stuart Riley has been busy on course and spoke to connections of No Drama This End, after a standing start did the favourite no favours before he had to be pulled up in the opening race, the Turners.

“The false start hasn’t helped anybody,” said Paul Nicholls. “I don’t know why they didn’t let them go first time. Some of the starts are becoming ludicrous.”
