Quid Pro Quo Looks to Trade South African Glory for Dubai Success

 

Dual South African Group 1 winner Quid Pro Quo heads a strong line-up for Friday’s 10-race Dubai Racing Carnival meeting at Meydan, making her local debut in the G2 Cape Verdi, race seven, over 1600 metres on turf.

 

The four-year-old filly, trained in South Africa by Barend Botes to victories in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship and G1 Douglas Whyte Stakes, is now under the care of France-based trainer Jerome Reynier and owners Team Valor.

Two Australian-bred fillies out of South African mares drew strong international attention at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, with elite buyers responding to depth, durability, and proven top-level class in the female line.

 

Leading the pair was the Snitzel–Delta Queen (SAF) bay filly, sold for $800,000 to Moody Racing Pty Ltd/Mick Malone Bloodstock (NSW). Foaled on 13 September 2024, she is out of Delta Queen, a Grade 3 winner of the Kenilworth Fillies Nursery and a daughter of River Jetez, the winner of the Cape Met, giving the pedigree both speed and classic substance.
