€500,000 for a son of Kingman

Buyers crowded around the ring for the turn of a son of Kingman out of Listed winner and Group 1-placed VIA PISA (lot 13) to go under the hammer, with the gavel finally falling at €500,000. Consigned by Haras de Saint-Pair, the half-brother to the black-type winner GREEN FLY was knocked down to Jason Kelly and Irish trainer Paddy Twomey. The well-bred colt is a grandson of Group winner VIA MEDICI and hails from the family of the excellent performer ADMIRE MARS as well as Group scorers VIA FIRENZE, VIA MILANO and VIA RAVENNA.

“He’s a lovely colt. He was the one I wanted at the sale and we’re delighted to get him, said Paddy Twomey. He’s an athletic horse with a great pedigree. I was lucky to train Pearls Galore, she was a real champion in Ireland, that was also bred by Mr. Putsch. I’ve bought this colt for an existing owner and I’ll hope we’ll see him on the racecourse next year.”

Autumn Horses In Training Catalogue Out Now:

Goffs Autumn Sale will commence at 11am on Tuesday 5 November with 121 horses in training followed by two and a half days of yearlings.

The Horses In Training catalogue features drafts from many well-known Irish training and breeding establishments, headed by HH Aga Khan Studs who offer ten including recent winners Masoun (Lot 65) who decisively landed a competitive Curragh handicap over 1m 2f on his latest start and is rated 88, along with the 90-rated Ridhaz (64) who also won a 1m 2f handicap last time out.  Godolphin, Willie McCreery’s Rathbride Stables, Gavin Cromwell Racing, and Conyngham Lodge Stables are also among those with notable consignments.  The HIT sire profile meanwhile includes Blue Point, Dark Angel, Mehmas, Nathaniel, Night Of Thunder, Sea The Stars, Too Darn Hot and Zarak.

Other winners catalogued include the Eric McNamara trained Future Cutlet (Lot 52), winner over 7 furlongs at Down Royal on 30 September, and the Michael O’Callaghan trained Kodiac filly Do Si Do (Lot 62), winner of a Naas maiden over 6 furlongs on her second career start.

National Hunt prospects include Thecompanysergeant (Kayf Tara – Lot 93) from Denis Hogan’s Boherna Stables who was fourth in the Grade 1 Gold Cup at Fairyhouse behind Spillane’s Tower and went on to win a beginners chase at this year’s Galway Festival.  The Dancing Tree (Lot 97) is another interesting prospect following an impressive 6 length Bumper win on his stable debut for Gavin Cromwell.

As with the Autumn Yearlings, the Horses In Training Sale is another that punches above its weight.  Autumn HIT graduates have won under both codes across Ireland and the UK this year, as well as multiple winners in the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, proving the quality and value to be found at Goffs this Autumn.
