Dam Of US Grade 1 Winner Fev Rover To Sell At Goffs November

Goffs is delighted to announce that Laurelita, dam of 2023 US Grade 1 winner Fev Rover, will be offered for sale at the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale which takes place from 24 to 25 November. In foal to Starspangledbanner, she will be sold on Friday 24 November by Manister House Stud.

Fev Rover was the 3½ length winner of the Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes in August for trainer Mark Casse and owner Tracy Farmer, and the five-year-old daughter of Gutaifan is set to contest the Grade 1 EP Taylor Stakes at Woodbine next Sunday en route to Santa Anita for the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Turf.  Her 2023 campaign opened with victory in the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine, the same track where she won the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes in 2022, before being placed in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga in July prior to the Beverley D Stakes win.  She is expected to remain in training next season.

Fev Rover enjoyed a prosperous career in the UK and France prior to her move across the Atlantic, winning the Group 2 Prix du Calvados at two trained by Richard Fahey for Nick Bradley Racing and was Classic placed behind Mother Earth in the English 1000 Guineas the following year.

Laurelita is a twelve-year-old mare by High Chaparral who was a winner herself at two.  She is a sister to six other winners out of the Dansili mare Chervil whose siblings include the Grade 1 Yellow Ribbon Stakes winner Light Jig.  Laurelita is also the dam of Bill The Butcher (Starspangledbanner), a three-time winner in Hong Kong this year who has amassed over £380,000 in prize money.  Her two-year-old filly Leveret has been retained by her breeders and showed plenty of promise when second on debut for Richard Fahey two weeks ago.

Outlining the rationale behind the sale, Luke Barry of Manister House Stud said:

“Having retained her daughter Leveret, we are looking forward to offering Laurelita, a young Group 1 producing mare with a very desirable early covering to a worldwide audience in Goffs this November”.

Laurelita will be one of the highlights of the much-anticipated November Breeding Stock Sale catalogue that also features The Niarchos Draft of 44 regally bred mares headed by Classic winner Alpha Centauri in foal to Sea The Stars and Group 1 Coronation Stakes winner Alpine Star in foal to Frankel.

Commenting on the inclusion of Laurelita in the November Sale, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:

“The who’s who of international thoroughbred breeders will be at Kildare Paddocks this November and we are thrilled to include Laurelita in a star-studded catalogue which is shaping up to be one for the ages.  As the dam of such an exciting Grade 1 winner as Fev Rover, she is a mare that would grace any breeding stock sale anywhere in the world and I wish to extend my thanks to the Barry family at Manister House Stud for choosing Goffs”.

The November Breeding Stock Sale immediately follows the five-day Goffs November Foal Sale which has also attracted world class entries once more.  The catalogues for both sales will be available next week.
