The Kentucky Derby Future Wager, offered for a 22nd consecutive year, enables bettors to wager on possible Kentucky Derby contenders in advance of America’s greatest race at odds that could be more attractive than those available on the day of the race.

On March 17, Churchill Downs Incorporated announced the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (GI), the 1 ¼-mile classic for 3-year-old Thoroughbreds, would be rescheduled from Saturday, May 2 to Saturday, Sept. 5 amid public health concerns in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Churchill Downs officials have been working with other prominent partner tracks to add additional “Road to the Kentucky Derby” races and determine the various paths to the Kentucky Derby starting gate that enable the horses in the best form to compete. An updated schedule of races will be announced in the coming weeks as separate discussions with state and local governments and all appropriate parties to determine the most suitable time to conduct those races continue.

Total handle for Pool 4 of the KDFW was $213,664 ($144,349 in the Win pool and $69,315 in Exactas). Additional KDFW pools will be staged this summer. Those dates are pending.
