05/02/2018. Four Grade 1 winners for Goffs at the Dublin Racing Festival

Graduates from Goffs and Goffs UK dominated at Leopardstown this weekend, winning a total of seven races at the inaugural Dublin Racing Festival, four of which were Grade 1 contests.

The success was headed by Aintree and Land Rover graduate Samcro (pictured below), who romped home in the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle, adding this illustrious win to his unbeaten record for owner Gigginstown House Stud and trainer Gordon Elliott. The son of Germany was trained by Colin Bowe for owner Dougie Taylor to win a Point to Point before selling for £335,000 at the Goffs UK Aintree Sale and he is now a warm favourite for further Grade 1 success at the Cheltenham Festival.

Supasundae led home a Goffs 1-2-3 in the Grade 1 Champion Hurdle for Jessica Harrington and the late Ann & Alan Potts when beating fellow Goffs Group graduates Faugheen and Mick Jazz in the 2-mile contest. This was Supasundae’s first Grade 1 win, having previously been a Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed.

Goffs UK graduates also took home two more Grade 1’s, with Mr Adjudicator winning his first Grade 1 for Willie Mullins in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle, and the longshot Edwulf coming back from a dramatic last season to win the Grade 1 Irish Gold Cup for Joseph O’Brien under Goffs UK agent Derek O’Connor.

Further success came during the Dublin Racing Festival in the Grade 2 bumpers at the end of each day with Aintree Sale graduate Blackbow winning the Grade 2 Goffs Future Stars INH Flat Race and December NH graduate Relegate winning the Grade 2 Coolmore NH Sires Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race. Both horses stepped up in class for trainer Willie Mullins and currently hold unbeaten records.
