Success Story Headlines Sprint Series 1st Leg

Success Story made his mark at a mile and at 2000M in Dubai earlier this year but he drops all the way down to 1200M for his first start back home in Busan in Sunday’s Busan Ilbo Cup, the first leg of the inaugural Korean Sprint Series.

And what an opportunity it is for Italian jockey Paolo Aragoni who gets the plum ride on Success Story on his first weekend riding in Korea.

That said, it is a very tough race.Beolmaui Kkum - who along with Success Story is owned by Lee Jong Hun - will be there along with up and comers Indian Star and Perdido Pomeroy.  Gamdonguibada, Oreuse  and the always-game Gumpo Sky are also among those with claims..

The Sprint series is new for this year with Sunday’s Busan Ilbo Cup being followed by two international races; the SBS Korea/Japan Cup on June 5th and then the $700K Korea Sprint on September 11th, both of which will be run at Seoul. All three races are to be contested over 1200M.

Success Story placed 3rd in both his races in Dubai, exceeding expectations back in Korea where it had been hoped he would simply manage to stay with the field. Cheongu, who also went to Dubai, put in a slightly disappointing performance on his own return to domestic racing at Seoul last weekend, coming home 6th in a class 1 handicap.

Speaking of Seoul, the capital’s entry for the Busan Ilbo Cup is disappointing – although not unexpected – so credit to the connections of the three who are having a go.

MARTEDÌ 26 APRILE 2016 Newmarket: Verso le 2000 e le 1000 Ghinee tra sabato e domenica. Tutto pronto o quasi alle Classiche inglesi.

 
 
 
Ridendo e scherzando, siamo già giunti alla settimana delle 2000 e 1000 Ghinee inglesi di Newmarket, che si correranno sabato 30 Aprile sul Rowley Mile. Tra i maschi delle QIPCO 2000 Guineas G1 sono rimasti in 17 al forfait di ieri e, dopo la defezione delle scorse settimane di Emotionless (correrà più in la nella stagione secondo Charlie Appleby perchè non gli veniva pronto così presto), è ancora dentro il favoritissimo invernale della prima Classica inglese: Air Force Blue (War Front), vincitore delle Dewhurst Stakes G1, uno dei 4 tenuti dentro da O’Brien, mentre ha fatto forfait con Washington DC (Zoffany). Gli altri sonoAir Vice Marshal (War Front) e Shogun (Fastnet Rock), così come il vincitore di maidenBravery (Galileo). Ne ha parlato il rappresentante Kevin Buckley: “Air Force Blue ha passato un buon inverno, è cresciuto e si è rinforzato ed abbiamo le migliori speranze possibili. Air Vice Marshal dopo il secondo nelle Superlative G2 di Luglio non si è più visto perchè ha avuto un problema ed il terreno soffice a fine anno non lo avrebbe aiutato. Ora sta bene, lo aspettiamo competitivo. Shogun avrebbe bisogno di terreno buono, quando ha corso le Craven c’era molta acqua in pista, ma pensiamo possa correre bene le Ghinee, del resto è fratello pieno di Qualify, vincitrice di Oaks. Non so con quanti correremo, ma Aidan ha deciso di lasciare questi e dalle 2000 Ghinee di King Of Kings (Sadler’s Wells) che corriamo con almeno 2 cavalli.
 
Jim Bolger prepara l’assalto con il Blue Round Two (Teofilo), ma il team di Sheikh Mohammed è dentro anche conBuratino (Exceed And Excel), Herald The Dawn (New Approach) e Ribchester (Iffraaj) che ha vinto le Mill Reef Stakes G2 in Settembre. Michael O’Callaghan ha lasciato nella lista il vincitore delle Killavullan G3 Blue De Vega (Lope De Vega) nonostante la corsa arrivi presto, secondo quanto detto nelle settimane scorse. Peter Chapple-Hyam è stato invece felice di annunciare che correrà con Marcel (Lawman) per i colori di Paul Makin, nuovo proprietario, per il cavallo vincitore del Racing Post Trophy. 
Hugo Palmer come anticipato correrà con l’ Al Shaqab Racing’s Galileo Gold (Paco Boy), vincitore delle Vintage Stakes G2 lo scorso anno, e capace di un buonissimo lavoro in pista da corsa le settimane scorse. Ha detto che sono in agenda eventualmente anche le Poules francesi, ma dopo confronto con Frankie Dettori deciderà. Soprattutto in caso di terreno lento è probabile corra in Inghilterra. Ma è possibile corra tutte e due. L’impressionante vincitore delle Craven Stakes, cioè Stormy Antarctic (Stormy Atlantic) capeggia la lista di quelli che abbiamo rivisto pimpante, gli altri sono First Selection (Diktat), Kentuckyconnection (Include), Massaat (Teofilo), Taqdeer (Fast Company), Zhui Feng (Invincible Spirit) e Zonderland (Dutch Art). 
Tra le femmine ancora parecchia incertezza, in occasione delle 1000 Ghinee di domenica pomeriggio. Padre Aidan ha dentro Minding (Galileo) ed ha manifestato intenzione di correre anche con Ballydoyle (Galileo), Alice Springs (Galileo). Quest’ultima ha patito il terreno soffice a Leopardstown alle spalle di Jet Setting (Fast Company), supplementata per £30,000. Mark Johnston si aspetta molto dalla grigia Lumiere (Shamardal), che ha forma con la Hannon Illuminate (Zoffany), la quale ha disertato il rientro causa terreno soffice e rientrerà direttamente nelle Ghinee. Brian Meehan ha mostrato fiducia in Blue Bayou (Bahamian Bounty), descritta come la miglior femmina che abbia mai allenato.
 
Dall’Irlanda Jim Bolger ha lasciato dentro Turret Rocks (Fastnet Rock), finita seconda di Ballydoyle nel Total Prix Marcel Boussac G1. Ci sarà ancheNathra (Iffraaj), vincitrice al rientro nelle Nell Gwyn Stakes G3 e al via ci sarà anche Mix And Mingle (Exceed And Excel), la miglior femmina di Chris Wall. Altre conferme per le 1000 Ghinee sono Aljazzi (Shamardal), Ashadihan (Kyllachy), Epsom Icon (Sixties Icon), Fireglow (Teofilo), Midweek(Motivator), Robanne (Paco Boy).
Sabato anche le Jockey Club Stakes G2 con in pista Jack Hobbs (Halling), attualmente il miglior anziano del mondo sul miglio e mezzo secondo i ratings internazionali. Avrà in sella William Buick, mentre Andrea Atzeni monterà Second Step (Dalakhani). Per i velocisti in programma le Palace House Stakes G3.
