Meydan Pillar Partner, Al Tayer Motors will return to Meydan this Thursday for a seven-race card in the Dubai World Cup Carnival highlighted by the Group 3 Dubai Millennium Stakes sponsored by Al Tayer Motors – one of the UAE’s premier automobile dealerships.

Al Tayer Motors is a regular sponsor of horseracing with support of a domestic Racing at Meydan card in December as well as Dubai World Cup day’s 3200m stayers’ race, the Group 2 $1million Dubai Gold Cup to be held on March 26, 2016.

The Dubai Millenium Stakes, a quality contest held at 2000m on the Meydan turf, was won in 2015 by the Godolphin-owned Hunter’s Light, trained by Saeed Bin Suroor and ridden by James Doyle. Hunter’s Light then went on to claim the Group 1 Jebel Hatta on Super Saturday.

Also on the card is the Group 2 Purebred Arabian race, the 1400m Bani Yas sponsored by Jaguar XE held on the dirt track. This contest was won in 2015 by the Erwan Charpy-trained Manark. Owned by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Manark went on to win the Group 1 Dubai Kahayla Classic on Dubai World Cup day last year.

Al Tayer Motors, Chief Executive Officer Ashok Khanna said: “The Dubai World Cup Carnival represents the perfect platform for international and regional trainers and jockeys to prep their horses for races on Dubai World Cup day next month. Being held at the same venue, the event provides an excellent evening of racing action at Meydan Racecourse. We are happy to continue our longstanding association with the Dubai World Cup Carnival and Meydan Group for the 2016 season.”

Malih Al Basti, Meydan Group Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Meydan Racing Committee said: “We are very pleased to welcome Al Tayer Motors back to Meydan Racecourse for the Dubai Millennium Stakes and Bani Yas card in the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
