Inghilterra: Twilight Son di un baffo nella Sprint Cup. Imbattuto in 5 uscite, il figlio di Kyllachy ha fatto il salto in alto

 

 

Chi osa vince. Henry Candy ha provato a traslare questo vecchio modus operandi ed ha ottenuto una bella vittoria con Twilight Son (Kyllachy) il quale, venendo dagli handicap, ha fatto un colpo vincendo da imbattuto la Sprint Cup G1 di Haydock sui 1200 metri continuando la suite di vittorie allungandola a 5 consecutive, dopo 2 vittorie in handicap nella stagione, battendo Strath Burn (Equiano) in foto con Andrea Atzeni a bordo ed al terzo Magical Memory (Zebedee), facendo lo scalpo anche ad anziani esperti. Per Fergus Sweeney era la prima affermazione a livello di G1 con un cavallo che ha attratto anche gli interessi del Cheveley Park Stud, i quali hanno comprato interessi in Twilight. Henry Candy, che ha allenato anche suo padre Kyllachy, ha usato ovviamente parole di elogio per un cavallo cresciuto corsa dopo corsa. Nel Superior Mile G3, dal secondo posto dello scorso anno, si riprende il maltolto Balty Boys (Cape Cross) nei confronti di Sovereign Debt (Dark Angel) ed Hors De Combat (Mount Nelson). Balty è allenato da Brian Ellison. Quarto, per la cronaca, Fanciful Angel (Dark Angel), di proprietà Blueberry per il training di Marco Botti. VIDEO QUI.

 

Nelle Ascendant Stakes lo stallone Coolmore, il first season sire Zoffany, ha ottenuto un altro riconoscimento alla sua carriera in ascesa grazie aFoundation per John Gosden e la monta di Frankie Dettori. Toormore gets it right this time in Turkey

TOORMORE (Richard Hannon/James Doyle) wiped away the disappointment of 12 months ago when proving a class apart in the feature race of Turkey’s international meeting.

A below-par third when sent off long odds-on in the valuable race last year, the colt never had a moment of worry as he pulled clear under James Doyle to register a comprehensive victory.

Success in a race worth £209,302 to the winner capped a profitable weekend for Godolphin, who won two Group contests at the course on Saturday.

It also rewarded the long-term planning of Hannon, who pinpointed a return to Turkey earlier in the year despite Toormore’s poor run on his first visit.

Back to winning ways

After a winless Classic campaign, a change of tactics has been adopted for the champion two-year-old of 2013 and Doyle again implemented them by riding his mount prominently.

He tracked leader Golden Tower for much of the contest and although he cut across the pace-setter down the home straight the interference happened a long way out and did not affect the result.

Shifting Power, Hannon’s other runner, finished fourth behind Perfect Warrior and Yildirimbey.

While it was not a vintage performance from Toormore, who got warm and over-raced in the early stages, it was another step in the right direction after he ended a long search for victory in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in July.

Toormore holds an entry for the Qipco Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and the majority of bookmakers left his price untouched at 20-1.

Off on his travels

“It was a hot day and he got warm, but he won very well,” said Hannon.

“He’s in the QEII, but you’d have to think Hong Kong is an option. I will speak to the Godolphin team and he will go where they want but he is definitely a horse who travels well.”

It was not long before Hannon was celebrating again as Orvar rounded off a clean sweep for British trainers in the big races on the card with victory in the Trakya (Thrace) Trophy, a local Group 3 for two-year-olds over 6f.

Hannon added: “Orvar was very professional, it is asking a lot of a two-year-old to travel them this far but the prize-money was very good so we thought we would try and he did it well.”
