Balko Des Flos gave Gigginstown House Stud boss Michael O’Leary – the owner of airline Ryanair – his first victory in his own race with a comprehensive victory over hot favourite Un De Sceaux.
The Colin Tizzard-trained Cue Card, the popular veteran, was never travelling throughout and was pulled up by Paddy Brennan.
The 8-1 winner was moving with ease turning in and, although Un De Sceaux attempted to rally up the hill, there were never any anxious moments for a cool Davy Russell, who was enjoying his second winner of the day and on a card so far dominated by Gigginstown.
