Ancora Clixe Cox! Ancora Julie Deadman e Stephen Barrow che, da proprietari, hanno vinto ancora il Prix Robert Papin G2 sui 1100 metri di Maisons-Laffitte con un altro 2 anni esaltante che risponde al nome di Tis Marvellous (Harbour Watch) dopo che, nel 2012, a vincere fu l’esaltante Reckless Abandon poi vincitore di Morny G1 e Middle Park G1. Quest’anno Tis Marvellous ha fatto qualcosa di più finendo in un tempo più veloce di quello fatto registrare allora in 1m 04s, scendendo ad 1m 3,16s. Tin Marvellous ha approfittato di una monta saggia di Adamo Kirby partendo veloce ed installandosi subito al comando ed allo steccato. Stessa partenza veloce l’ha colta Prince Of Lir (Kodiac), reduce da una vittoria nelle Norfolk G2, con i 2 che si sono staccati in lotta ed il primo a farne le spese è stato proprio Prince, che è calato mentre dall’esterno invece, disinteressata della prima parte veloce di corsa, è emersa la seconda delle Queen Mary G2 Al Johrah (Bated Breath) con al terzo Hargeisa (Speightstown), la vincitrice del nostro Primi Passi G3, con al quarto l’italiana Morgane Forlonge (American Post), autrice di una buona prestazione per i colori della Sila ed il training di Attilio Giorgi, che ora allungherà ai 1400 metri del Prix du Calvados G2. Tutto questo mentre Tis raggiungeva la meta in maniera agevole, vincendo nettamente rispetto al resto del campo.

Tis Marvellous è il primo stakes winner per il sire Harbour Watch (Acclamation), già installato a 20/1 per la Commonwealth Cup G1 del Royal Ascot del prossimo anno. Ma prima, secondo Clive Cox, cercherà di ripercorrere le orme di Reckless correndo il Morny G1, oppure le Gimcrack G2. 

Tis Marvellous ha debuttato con un secondo posto ma alla seconda uscita in carriera a Windsor ha strapazzato i rivali vincendo di 8 lunghezze. Prodotto della fattrice Mythicism (Oasis Dream) fu pagato £52,000 alle Goffs Uk di fine Agosto.

R1C5 – Prix Robert Papin (Gr.2) : le trône est anglais

Plébiscité par les parieurs, favori des bookmakers, Prince Of Lir (2) devait endosser le maillot du vainqueur « avant coup ». A l’arrivée il reste le prince consort, celui qui coiffe la couronne de ce premier Groupe 2 tricolore réservé à la jeune génération est  néanmoins un de ses « compatriotes » britannique.Tis Marvellous (1) un poulain lancé dans le grand bain des course de sélections à l’occasion de son premier déplacement à l’étranger. En trois sorties publiques, mais surtout au terme d’une deuxième et dévastatrice accélération sur le tracé des bords de Seine, le partenaire d’Alan Kirby devance la « princesse » du turf français, Al Johrah. Déjà dauphine de l’américaine Lady Aurelia à Royal Ascot, l’élève d’Henri François Devin conforte sa place au sommet de la hiérarchie européenne des pouliches de 2 ans.

• Si l’histoire se répète pour Julie Deadman et Stephen Barrow, déjà au palmarès de ce Prix Robert Papin en 2012, les copropriétaires de Prince Of Lir devrait vivre un bel été sur la cote normande. Dans la foulée de son sacre parisien, Reckless Abandon avait fait sien le Prix Morny premier Groupe 1 français pour les 2 ans. Mieux après son succès deauvillais, le pensionnaire de Clive Cox, encore lui, concluait son année de 2 ans par une victoire dans les Middle Park Stakes (Gr.1). Newmarket c’est encore loin mais Deauville c’est demain, le Prix Morny est programmé le 21 août,  une date que Clive Cox déclare avoir déjà inscrit sur le carnet de bal de Tis Marvellous.

Tis Marvellous impresses in Prix Robert Papin win

OWNERS Julie Deadman and Stephen Barrow and trainer Clive Cox enjoyed a second success in five years in this Group 2 sprint with Tis Marvellous an impressive scorer.

Connections landed the race in 2012 with Reckless Abandon, subsequent Prix Morny and Middle Park victor, and Tis Marvellous left a clear impression on racegoers with his authoritative display.

Paddy Power make the son of Harbour Watch, who in turn secured his first Stakes winner as a sire,  20-1 to land the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot next year.

Cox is eyeing a return to France for the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville in August – a race won by John Gosden’s Shalaa and John Quinn’s The Wow Signal the year before.

The winning trainer said: “That was marvellous – Tis Marvellous! It is really sweet to come back with Stephen and Julie after collecting the prize with Reckless Abandon.

“I think we may well target the Prix Morny. He is in the Gimcrack as well at York and we will decide. We will take a view and see where the nicest ground is. I am quite relaxed though because I think he is good enough to continue our progress forwards.”

How it panned out

Adam Kirby bagged the stands side rail aboard the Windsor maiden winner, who raced prominently throughout and breezed three lengths clear with a furlong to go.

Norfolk Stakes winner Prince Of Lir raced with plenty of zest early on and appeared to have every chance, though could not live with the winner’s impressive turn of foot, eventually fading into a well beaten fifth with Luke Morris reporting the ground was too quick for Robert Cowell’s juvenile.

Queen Mary second Al Johrah attempted to challenge Cox’s star two-year-old inside the final furlong but failed to really land a blow, finishing two-and-a-half lengths back in second.

Cox added: “He took a little while to come to hand and we missed Royal Ascot because of that but he is a proper horse who is going the right way and I am delighted.”
